Milan & Hin current crops of bus operators a LOT OF GOOD-FORTHING BUSES AND DRIVERS. DRIVING AT THEIR WHIMS AND FANCIES. WITH THEIR SPACE AND ARRAGANCE.HIN BUSES HAS BEEN RUNNING SINCE WAYBACK IN THE 50'S & 60'S. MILAN BUS ARE THE PAINTED OVER OF YELLOW COLOUR FROM HIN BUSES OF YESTERYEARS.

ON A RIDE ON HIN BUS I NOTICE A YOUNG FAT BOY (NOT MAN YET) ALWAYS SITTING BESIDE THE HIN BUS DRIVER.I CAME TO KNOW THAT HE IS THE PART OWNER OF HIN BUSES SON.

ZERO VOTE FOR CURRENT BUS OPERATORS? WHY OH WHY?

The Bus Boy and the Pajak System

The boy you are refering is being used by bus drivers to sollicit customers for the buses that stop at that bus stop. He is often seen either at the Jetty or Komtar terminal. He shouts loudly the destination of the buses that come by and passengers who hear him get on the bus. He is also like a one-stop information service as he is quite aware with the latest information on where the buses are heading. In return he gets RM1 from the bus driver for his efforts.

The question is, why are the bus drivers paying this boy to sollicit for customers? Afterall, after the revamp, the bus drivers are mere employees of the company and not owners of the bus. It should not matter to the bus drivers whether one passenger gets on the bus or 20. The fact is this: The buses are still running on the pajak system despite THN claiming that he was successful in getting rid of the illegal system. He may have been successful in getting rid of the pajak system as far as the mini buses are concerned but the stage buses are still operating the same way. I even heard one female Milan employee admit that the bus was runing on the pajak system. For those who are not aware what the pajak system is, it is a system where individuals make an arrangement with the bus companies to lease the bus on a daily basis for a fixed rent. They drive like mad all day and try and get as many passengers on board. At the end of the day, they pay the fixed rent and the rest of the collection is profit.

Now it would make sense why the boy is being paid to solicit for customers. Obviously under the pajak system, the bus driver makes money from every customer he is able to get on board. At the end of the day, he pays the lease for the bus to Milan and the balance collection is all his. So the more passengers the better. This also explains the overcrowding in our buses and why bus drivers refuse to move until the buses are full. The evils of the pajak system is evident!

Don't even get me started about the question of child labour and how it is against the law! and to think all this is happening right under the noses of the state government!

Absolutely appalling!

The Bus Boy and the Pajak System

The Bus Boy in one way could be taken as a supplementary system for advising passenger where the bus is heading, this is helpful to a passenger or a tourist. Wrongfully taking in more passengers than regulated is an OFFENCE and trying to wait for more passengers resulting the overlook of schedule is another. They are separate issues!

The system should look into if driver are paid or have reasonable income. The same for the bus operators. Most probably this had not been regulated and therefore, they are basis for all the problems that mingled for years in this tiny island.

Any new transportation system should be an joint efforts also by the drivers if they will speak fairly or understanding what should be fair for working as part of the transportation system. The basis will fall back to the openness and transparency of the system!! But, WHO SHOULD START THIS OPENNESS AND TRANSPARENCY??

Bus Service vote

RapidKL/Rapid Penang loosing out to Bus Negeri P. Pinang by 3 vote as today as at 13/03/07.

It seem the public is not TOO sure of  RapidPenang running the bus by August 07.

1) Do anyone has any idea who is to blame?

2)It seem that Penang bus will suffer as before?

3)Hopefully by August 07 Penang can see a SILVER LINEING?

4)Whatever the outcome. DO NOT ALLOW MILAN AND HIN TO BE IN OPERATION OF THE  BUSES.

Rapid lost by 36 to 63 % !

The reading of the vote result is only 36% of the votes go to Rapid KL/Penang while votes going to BNPP and Open tender both reject Rapid ! They are a poor 2nd last choice !

1. Who is to blamed ? Well -does anyone knows about Rapid KL in the first place : who are their boss ? What records/experience they have in running bus operations ? How much own capital they have other than the RM50mil for buying new buses ? How can Penangites trust some unknown quantity to run a bus service where the best/worst of govt supported cronies had failed ?

2.No-the BNPP had got RM50mil federal loan to support the purchase of new buses -but the CM gave that chance away without consulting the people. WOrst come to worst open tender can get operators who don't even need the loan !

3.AUg 7th won't see a silver lining -we have got evidence from KL that Rapid Kl is ruining their new buses ! Come to the Sunday Grand Continental Hotel semianr by Bus Users Group (see the events calendar for more details) to find out what are the true colours of How Rapid Kl run their `new' bus system /bus system with new buses ! Prepare for the shock and awe !

4. FOr your info the old buses are allowed to run in KL after Rapid Kl took over -perhaps 1 reason is Rapid simply doesn't have enough buses to cover all areas in need of buses ! The same thing will happen in Penang because there are 200 buses serving Penang -but Rapid only can buy 150 buses ! So they must depend on the current bus operators to fill in the gap-and the gap-filling will not be done free of charge ! They will continue to squeeze the system by flaunting the laws and endangering the passengers -the semianr on coming Sunday will tell all !
